Is this a slow start or is he hurt? What can we expect to see from him? Dosen't look like he's a #1 or #2 SP.

I think he just sucks. I can't believe he's my ace in 2 leagues.

His velocity is still in the low 90's just like last year. In 04 he was in the high 90's. I also don't see him as an ace anymore.

I've heard from several people here that he's hit 97 MPH.
His K rate and BAA is still pretty good, I'll give him more time to find his control.

I don't think he really did that badly last year. His second half splits were quite good, actually. I know you have to factor in every start, but if you take away his worst four starts last year, he would have had a 3.45 ERA. Considering he was battling an injury for a good part of the season, I really don't think it's all that bad. I have him as my #3 starter behind Peavy and Pettite and couldn't be happier. Sure, he'll have a few bad starts here and there, but overall, the good ones should far outweigh the bad ones.

I've also heard from online sources (Cafe included) that he's overpitching right now... he's not confident. He needs time to sort things out.
If he's hitting 97, then that's a really good sign. He then has all the tools that made him dominant, he just has to get it all together.

Read this ... and decide for yourself.

I think when your own teammates have speculated that your performance was steriod-fueled ... well ....

That article leaves little doubt in my mind that Schmidt is steroid free. I'm guessing he'll be a solid fantasy #2 this year.

Yeah that article is old and I don't find it very useful, but thanks for it
