D. Lee and C. Carpenter, still going strong

Postby bellings » Thu Apr 20, 2006 12:19 am

Yes, it's early in the season. I can't wait until we can stop saying that. But every indication so far is that these two are for real, and not just 1-year wonders. So here we have two 30-year-old players who were plainly good, but all of the sudden are putting up elite fantasy numbers.

These 2 are starting to look like bargains. A-Rod-like numbers in the late-first early-second round, and Santana-like numbers in the third-? round. If these 2 really do keep it up, we may have to reevaluate how we respond to older players suddenly getting hot.

I grabbed them both in my league, just because I have the simple philosophy that those most likely to put up great numbers this year are the players that put up great numbers last year. Not exactly an ground-breaking theory, but it does help me not to overthink things.

So much for still going strong. It didn't take D. Lee long to get himself injured.

My bad. :-B

At least I waited until after Carp's 2 hitter to post this. Today could have been a total disaster.
