BOSTON -- Carl Crawford landed funny on his right shoulder on Tuesday night when he dived trying to catch Manny Ramirez's third-inning double. Wednesday, he was scratched from the lineup with a sore shoulder.
"I don't know what happened," Crawford said. "I stretched out and kind of overextended it or something, to the point where I can't swing the bat now."
Crawford stayed in Tuesday's game and singled in his final at-bat in the ninth.
"I actually played through it last night," Crawford said. "It was hurting. As soon as I dived, I was struggling all night. Came in today to see how I was doing. Knew I was going to be stiff this morning, but I wanted to get it loose and see what I can do."
Crawford doesn't think it's a major injury.
"No popping, nothing like that," Crawford said. "Just hyperextended it a little bit.
"It's day to day. I hope there's nothing that wrong, I'd be disappointed if it was. Just going to treat it real quick and fast, hopefully I'll be in there the next couple of days."
After Crawford was scratched, manager Joe Maddon moved Ty Wigginton from right field to left field, inserted Damon Hollins into the lineup in right, and moved Joey Gathright from the ninth spot to leadoff.

That doesn't sound good.
I've had shoulder over externsions before. From what it seems like it certainly won't be a long term thing. Sounds like a strain that will make him uncomfortable for a week or two. A 15 day d/l wouldn't be out of the question, but I'd expect a few days just scratching from the games.
Either way, I expect that 2 weeks from now he'll be in top form.
He's out today too.. This is not looking good (I just traded for him a few days ago) Saw this on Roroworld this morning.

Apr 20 The Boston Herald reports Tampa Bay Devil Rays OF Carl Crawford (shoulder) will likely be held out of the Thursday, April 20, contest against the Boston Red Sox for precautionary reasons after he suffered a strained right shoulder the day before and was scratched from the lineup.
That sounds a lot less serious to me. Precautionary reasons. Good times.
