MLB Announced the 2006 1st Year Player Draft Order today...

The Kansas City Royals will have the first selection in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, to be held via conference call on June 6-7 in New York City, Major League Baseball announced today.

The Los Angeles Dodgers (7th and 26th), the Washington Nationals (15th and 22nd) and the Boston Red Sox (27th and 28th) are the only clubs with multiple first-round selections.

The selection order is determined by the clubs' reverse order of finish at the close of the previous championship season. In addition, supplementary selections are given as compensation to those Clubs that lost Type A, B or C free agents.

The Draft will have 50 rounds and will conclude after all 30 teams have passed on a selection or after the final selection of the 50th round, whichever comes first.

MLB.com, the official Web site of Major League Baseball, will offer exclusive, live multi-media coverage of the entire 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

This draft is going to be weak compared to last year's ridiculous first round... Upton, Gordon, Maybin, Zimmerman, Pelfrey, Clement, Braun, Tulo, Townsend, Hansen, Devine... wowsa

helllzzzzz ya bc eagles. we are going to have a very deep minor league system. we have a ton of talent there right now. Add 2 more 1st rounders to that and it just keeps growing and growing.

Remember, they have to actually draft someone good to add to that. Almost every team has a first rounder, it's what you do with that pick that counts.

Great, glad it see the Cardinals are dead freaking last. They lost enough free agents over the winter, hopefully the Cards get several supplemental picks.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

I can practically guarentee you the Giants won't have that pick by draft time :-[

I don't think there's any way that they can lose it.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
