What can I do to improve my team???

Postby PhillyFan123 » Wed Apr 19, 2006 2:17 pm

My team is currently in 8th place in a yahoo standard 5x5 roto league. I am doing fine in pitching categories, but struggling in hitting categories, especially in batting avg, runs, and rbi's. Any ideas about what I should do?

2B Utley
3B Beltre
SS Greene
Util. Howard
OF Hunter
OF Giles
OF Drew
BN Ibanez
BN Granderson

Pitching

SP Carlos Zambrano
SP Zito
SP Garcia
SP Penny
SP Ervin Santana

RP Lidge
RP Gordon
RP Miceli
RP Soriano

The pitching is great, but maybe you should find another solid closer to complement Lidge and Gordon-Maybe Todd Jones if he is available. Zambrano is starting slow, but be patient and he will come through. Beltre has an .154 average, so you should find someone to play in his place. Rich Aurilia has been playing well, has 3B eligibility and helps you in the categories you most need help with. Despite the fact that Greene has 4 HR, his average is also below .200 and maybe someone like Jack Wilson, who has identical HR and RBI numbers, but a .333 average. Hunter and Giles are also off to relatively slow starts. Some guys that might be available are Hawpe,Gibbons,Alex Rios, and Casey Blake.

Any Help?http://www.fantasybaseballcafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=192898

If I add any of the players suggested, who should I drop?

For Closer:Miceli-He won't get too many saves, and if the Tigers keep up their streak, Jones will help out a lot.
I wouldn't drop Beltre, but I would drop Greene, and either Aurilia (who has 3B and SS eligibility), or Wilson if you want to hold on to Beltre. I don't think anybody would pick up Hunter if you dropped him (nobody did when I dropped him) and I would lean towards one of the Colorado guys because of the Coors effect. I would be a little more cautious dropping Giles, but I think it would be OK if you dropped him.
