He just keeps getting older and older and the HRs and Steals keep declining. He did have an RBI and three runs scored at Coors today. Good to see some signs of life in him. I couldn't give him away in my 11 team roto league, but if I were to drop him, someone would certainly use a waiver claim on him. Bite the bullet I guess. I should have known when he fell to round 17...
Basically I'm complicated.
I have a hard time taking the easy way
I wouldn't call it schizophrenia
But Ill be at least two people today
If you're in a league that counts TBs, he's very helpful, too. He's been solid on both runs and rbi's year after year.
As the poster above suggested, I have him basically as an extra outfielder and play him here and there. His average will go up.
He's not amazing at any one thing except OBP, which is why the fantasy world doesn't seem to take him seriously all the time. However, he can make good contributions in every single stat category, which can sometimes be just as valuable as a guy that does one or two things really well.
He really struggles against lefties in the power dept, too. Had just two HRs versus them. I sit him pretty much against any lefty. My league counts OPS, so he's still got good value there.
that doesnt really explain the 13 and 9 road homers in 2004 and 2005. in 2002 he had 23 road homers. he hasnt topped 23 total homers since. i know homers arent everything, but for fantasy purposes thats people care about, and those totals have dropped off a cliff even on the road.

Someone got a good deal.
You know it's funny, last year he increased the steals and the year before increased the HR. A lot of what has been negatively said about Giles in this thread is thoughtess rambling. Giles isn't a 40/20 threat anymore, but he is a solid ball player who will very likely bring positive value to your team in every catagory (maybe not HR, it'll be close). Go ahead, check his properly weighted values on the Monster. Last year he was a far above average player in 14 team leagues.
