Carlos Beltran not feeling so hot...

Postby asumikey222 » Wed Apr 19, 2006 9:45 am

:eek (especially since this was one of my early-round sleepers)

Carlos Beltran - OF - New York Mets (Active) Wednesday Apr. 19, 2006
Carlos Beltran says his hamstring feels around 60 percent.
Beltran doesn't want to go on the DL, but he isn't ready to play. "I feel 60%. It's not enough for me to get out there and play," Beltran said. "I can run, but not full speed." Source: New York Daily News Apr. 19 - 9:21 am et

I guess the question basically is, is it really minor and he is just being safe and getting back to 100% or is it major and the "play it safe" stuff is just a smokescreen. I'm hoping for the former. :-o

I think it's minor and he's playing it safe; he had naggin injuries all year last year that he played through which is probably, at least to some degree, responsible for his lousy performance. I've read he should be back in the lineup by this weekend, if not early next week.

Yeah, my growing concerns stem mostly from the fact that it started out seeming like he'd miss a game or two and now he's sitting out this whole Braves series. I certainly hope you're right. Damn you Prince Fielder.

I would plan on not seein ghim play this week. Anything else is bonus. I have both Edgar and Beltran and neither of them are being counted on this week to help me.

Randolph said he's playing tomorrow.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Nope. It was the after-game report on WFAN radio.

Now they are saying he is likely to miss today and tomorrow. No link, per WFAN radio. :-/

Wonder if they should just retro-DL him.

I actually hope Beltran DOESN'T suit up today. He's going vs Peavy. He prolly won't do that hot with a weak hammy anyways.

Take your time, Vmart is doing enough for the both of you this week.
