I think he'll be able to at least eat innings, the guy throws strikes. It's between him, Sosa, and Ramirez for the last 2 spots in the rotation.

Kyle Davies will need surgery after being diagnosed with a torn groin muscle. The Braves haven't established a timetable for his return.
The guess is that Davies will miss two to three months with the injury. Travis Smith is going to replace Davies in the rotation until Horacio Ramirez returns later this month. It looks like Davies won't make much of a contribution in NL-only leagues this season. The Braves may step up their efforts to trade for a pitching help.

SP Savior: Chuck James getting called up

Postby TexasStampede » Sun Jun 18, 2006 10:22 pm

The Braves second best SP prospect outside of Kyle Davies is going to be called up to tenatively start twice this week vs TOR and TB. James has fanned about as many as Billingsley in the minors and the plan is to have him a starter for 2007. With the likely of Thomson being traded soon....what are your thoughts?

Chuck is scheduled for two starts this week vs. Tor. and T.B. I've been stashing him for quite a while now and hopefully it pays off. His minor league numbers were about as good as anyones. I'm gonna give him a shot in my lineup this week due to the two-turn.

He may not get 1 start this week. He pitched Sunday night for Richmond so he's definitely not starting Tuesday.

James has already been up 1 time. He did decent but not great. Somewhere around 1-12 innings with 5 or 6 K's. ERa was low # or upper 2. I'm not sure if he is as good as he is portrayed though. But hey anything is better than thompson/sosa right now.
