This guy is the real deal! He has 9 HR's through 13 games. This guy will for sure get 30+ HR. If the Tigers somehow make the palyoffs, he is the reason why.

Now, if they would actually have an offensive threat instead of out machines hitting in front of him, he might actually post some nice RBI totals this year. Put this guy at least 5th behind Ordonez and continue to follow him up with Guillen (or swap Guillen with someone higher in the order to take advantage of Guillen's on base skills) and I think we will see good things happen, for Shelton and for the team. Sorry, Alexis Gomez and Marcus Thames cannot be in the middle of your lineup. It hurts Shelton, Ordonez, and the success of the team. But then again, we love those solo HR's by Shelton
Does anyone notice that of the Tigers vaunted hitters, Pudge, Maggs, and Dmitri, that is it their #6 hitter who despite hitting over .400 with steriodial power who is talking about how he has to improve his approach at the plate. Striking out and not walking enough are a concern to Shelton.
This guy just doesn't get it, he obviously shouldn't be hitting 6th. He need to be moved down to 9th. That way there won't be any pressure on him to work on his game. <sarcasm>
What I would give to see Maggs, Pudge, and the Fatman talk about trying to improve their approaces at the plate. Pudge could vow to acknowledge the situation (and that it doesn't call for the 3 hacks and a sit approach that he favors so much), Maggs could try to learn how to hit line-drives, and the Fatman could try to think of his bat as a fork. That would insure he makes better contact.
In the meantime move Shelton up to third!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a $1, 6 year contract on Shelton in my auction league. Seems like he is in no-man's land right now. I'm not very optomistic about his playing time for next year and would like some opinions. I still see no reason why he can't be a 25 HR, .300 BA player with enough AB.
Unfortunately you know as much as us Tigers fans do. I think the Tigers making it to the World Series really hurts Shelton's chances of getting any significant playing time next year unless he's traded which is very possible. When not much was expected of the Tigers they were more than happy taking their lumps with Shelton at 1B but now it seems as 1B is a position they have pegged to upgrade.

Yes, he is. I just get the feeling that Shelton is out of favor with the organization and that they are looking to bring in a bigger bat to play 1B. Just my impression. Tigers fans should have a better grip on the situation.
