I have bad luck when it comes to signatures that the person either gets traded or hurt...in this case I hope he gets traded.

Wow, how did I miss this question :-?

If I'm not mistaken, the answer is Mr. Tim Wakefield who pitched 169 pitches against Milwaukee in 1997

I found the article written by Jerry Crasnick on April 13 2006 about pitch counts. I'm not going to post the whole article, but in the article...

Article wrote:• During the 1988 season, major league pitchers surpassed 120 pitches in a game a total of 599 times. Last year they did it 135 times. The number of 140-pitch games in a season declined from 65 in 1988 to a mere two last year.

• There were a total of 11 starts of 160 pitches or more during the 1988-89 seasons. But there hasn't been one since 1997, when Boston's Tim Wakefield knuckleballed his way to a 169-pitch outing against Milwaukee.

• After Ron Villone of Cincinnati threw 150 pitches against St. Louis in 2000, there was a five-year gap before Washington's Livan Hernandez duplicated the feat last summer.
