Believe it or not, I drafted him.....but as a backup to Guardado, not for 2K/IP.

I expect him to be solid, but not to keep up this pace....

Considering he's at triple the k rate he's averaged in the majors and the minors, I don't suspect this will continue.

He won't keep it up but the numbers definitely make me wonder which way the Mariners will go if Guardado goes down.

Guys at USSMariner.com pointed out that Putz has been pitching well since he started mixing up his pitches and extending his arm (if I remember correctly), after relying mostly on the not spectacular fastball in his first couple of outings. Wonder if he's doing anything different this season compared to the past, and if that's semi-permanent improvement that you can expect for the next few months? (Though, no one averages 2K/IP, so that's going down, but to where?)
