Manager Joe Maddon said Friday that it's "looking like May at the earliest" for Rocco Baldelli's return from a hamstring injury.
Baldelli went from being questionable for Opening Day to out for the first month so quickly it's surprising he's not a Cubs pitcher. He'd be ready to return as a DH pretty soon if the Devil Rays were willing to let him.
Is Baldelli worth holding onto anymore? I figure that i've held him for this long, I might as well keep him until I get something out of him.
However, I have a few guys on the DL and I will have to drop two guys once they all come back. Right now I have Prior, Crisp, Baldelli, and MacDougal, and i'm not sure what to do.

April 22: Devil Rays manager Joe Maddon said Friday that Rocco Baldelli could return to action around May 1 "if everything goes well," according to the St. Petersburg Times. Baldelli is recovering from a strained left hamstring, as well as the Tommy John surgery and ACL surgery that kept him sidelined last season.

I would drop MacDougal...It's not even guaranteed that he will be the closer when he comes back...Crisp should be back soon though right?

You'd think Crisp would be back quickly, but there was this report the other day...

Mike Petraglia, of Boston.RedSox.MLB.com, reports Boston Red Sox OF Coco Crisp (finger) is still far from returning although the team has outfitted him with a splint that gives him more flexibility in his training. Red Sox manager Terry Francona said that they do not know when he will be ready to come back but they will look closely at him when they return from their current road trip Monday, May 1. When he is ready to begin training, Francona said they are going to bring him along slowly before putting him back into games.
The St. Petersburg Times reports that Rocco Baldelli took part in an extended spring training game on Tuesday, going 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. "Everything was great," trainer Ron Porterfield said. Baldelli will play extended spring training games through Saturday before joining Double-A Montgomery Sunday. He could make his season debut with the Devil Rays around May 5.
