What do you guys think about him? I personally like him, he did basically the same thing as Ryan Howard last year. However, before the season started, Ryan Howard was much higher on most peoples draft board. Sure I would take Ryan Howard first due to him hitting in a better lineup and hitting half his games in a good hitters park, but I dont have them too are apart from each other on my rankings.
Opinions?

I actually have Gomes slightly ahead of Howard. I know it might sound crazy but lets think this through. Howard plays 1st a position that is extremely stacked right now. Much of his value is tied in the fact that ppl think hes going to hit 40 homers. Theres pretty much zero chance of this happening IMO, absolutely no one comes in and hits 40 dingers in their first full season. Gomes plays in a pretty good lineup himself and is actually younger than Howard(more potential for a breakout over last years numbers).
And finally the icing on the cake! Gomes stole 9 bases in limited action last year. The Rays love to run and he should rack up 10-15 steals pretty easily on that team...even if he gets caught 7-8 times doing it

The respective players past history in the minors, home ballpark and surrounding lineups do not support Gomes having great potential to be better than Howard. It's good to have your own opinion and I think Gomes is good too, but OF is nearly as or equally deep and the empirical data goes against your ranking.
low average? I would say .270 at the absolute lowest, .300 is his ceiling.
Gomes' likely average is up for debate. He hit for good average in 202 PA last year in the minors and, relatively speaking, raised his average when promoted to the MLB. Conversely, previous to that one year he was looking like a .250 hitter.

BP projected his average to be .255 this season.
Well due to his last year in the minors and his production last year, I dont think he hits lower than .270, not completely ruling it out, I just think its very unlikely that he hits lower than that.
BTW, I dont get your signature, what are adujusted HR's?
