I have a friend who works at a Seattle-based tax firm, that deals with Adrian Beltre's account that and it seems like his poor play may be due to him being preoccupied with problems with his return. He is being audited by the IRS and he has come into the office visibly shaken. He has seen him come into the office obviously distressed and looking unlike the confident slugger we saw in the WBC. There's a good chance that his problems are most certainly due to his tax-induced stress.
Well, I was going to say he's having a poor start because he sucks, but whatever.

Supposedly they are getting things resolved but my friend isn't working on the account itself (obviously I can't reveal much about what he does) and he has heard that things are looking better recently though after today's performance it's hard to know. I would say wait until after April 18th and see if he heats up, I'll try to let you know how things are progressing if I hear anything else from my buddy.
Yeah, thanks, keep us updated, so I know the exact moment to keep on not caring.
Actually, he is not playing well because he doesn't have bone spurs any more.
As is obvious, he's a real flailer at pitches. The bone spurs in 04' kept him from lunging forward because it hurt too much, leading him to wait for a pitch he wants.
Please. He had ONE...count it ONE decent year. And not coincidentally the year his contract expired and the year before serious roid testing with penalities was done. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it is a duck.
And by the way, no offense intended here, but I think your friend whose firm does Beltre's taxes needs to take a look at its ethics practices. I hope the people who work on my taxes don't discuss them with their friends. That's a fairly major lapse of professional judgement. Again, no offense. But that's a bit scary.

Exactly. The cafe is cool, knowing insider into is fun and an gives us an edge, but some things cross a line.
