. pretty sweet effect there. here's what he told me:

2. go to the bottom layer... image>adjustments>desaturate
3. still on the bottom layer.. image>adjustments>levels (for this one it was .68 on input? and 200 on output? i think).
4. bottom layer --- gaussian blur of 1 .. then fade the blur on darken
5. bottom layer --- sharpen... then fade sharpen on lighten
6. whatever to give it depth... drop shadow or faded black outer glow.

Yeah that's what the effect basically is, GJG.

Just to verify, I messed up on the input/output thing. I just played around with the input levels on top which read across 0, .68, and 200. I didn't do anything to the output which was on the bottom. Those aren't the levels needed for the effect, just the ones I used in particular on the Lee pic.
