What's the word on the Cards' top prospect? Would Reyes get Ponson's spot if he struggles like we know he can??!!

No doubt he will actually. Wasn't he battling Ponson for the 5th spot in ST? Why wouldn't he get the spot? Who else would you suggest?

Ponson will do just enough to keep the job... he always has. He's a solid vet on a staff of solid vets. They will probably groom Reyes for a little longer before bringing him up. Just b/c a kid has electric stuff, doesn't mean he will do well in the show... Ponson may give up 5 er a game, but he usually lucks out and wins for some reason. There is a chance Reyes gets called up and Ponson is sent to the pen or down to Triple A but there is also a chance McCarthy will start for Chicago White Sox... just not a good chance.

Reyes is already a better pitcher than Ponson. It is only a matter of time before he gets called up.

I hear ya.. Ponson will post his basic 11-14 type season with a high 3 or low 4 era, eat up innings and barely make it through the season. I think Reyes may be brought late like last year unless someone go's down with an injury, then we will see him sooner..

I think if Cards want he can start right away, I mean common we are not talking real competition people we are taking about competition with Ponson for god's sake. But I think they probably want to reserve him for next year or towards the playoff run, don't want to or need to rush him in right now

I think it's idiotic that Reyes is in AAA. But I agree, barring injury or a trade, he'll stay there until September. I don't understand it. But that's the way TLR wants it.
