In my auction 6x6 league with added K/9, I have punted saves and have gone after this same strategy. RP's that help your ratios who have a solid K/9. Other than the guys who have been mentioned, other solid RP's to look at are Howry, Wheeler, Farnsworth, Rincon, Speier, and Rhodes.
How valuable is this strategy in H2H though? I like using it in roto b/c it allows you to rotate someone in who will keep all those ratio cats low. In H2H, I'd imagine it would be better to fish for good spot start match-ups.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

Excellent point! I would agree that good spot starts are more effective in H2H than the use of a couple middle relievers.

I disagree. If you combined the stats of Shields and Rincon from last year, you would have a superstar. If you have the spots for them, having a few of the top middle-relievers helps. In my $ HTH league, with a minimun inning pitched, I start 2 MR's all the time, to go along with spot starting.

Yes but you would need to have P slots to do that. In leagues with only SP and RP slots (usually 2 RP slots), you would have to bench a closer to play a middle reliever.

That is true. I guess my point is from the perspective if you do not have the closers or have open slots, then it is a good idea. We start 2 RP's, but also have 2 spots that can be filled with either starters or relievers.
Also, if in an HTH league, this can also work if you can manage to punt saves.
