Trivia Rules Discussion

Arlo and myself are currenty trying to put the final touches on the rules for the season trivia contest that will start on March 25.

One thing we are very unsure about is if we should give a little incentive for people not only to anwer questions, but also to ask some. So for instance, for an answer to count, you would also have to ask a question, or (probably better) you would have to post at least 1 question for every two correct answers you give.

Right now things seem to be running pretty well, but in a competition it might be different. After all, if you're in a good position, asking questions would only give others an opportunity to answer them and catch up, so maybe requiring everybody to ask a certain amount of questions according to the points they have on the scoreboard would be fair?

On the other hand, maybe some folks simply like to answer questions, while others prefer to be quiz masters, so it's pretty stupid to force everybody to do both. And possibly the overall quality will suffer if people have to ask questions although they actually don't want to?

Please give us your input, guys, we'd like to do what you prefer!

I think everyone should have to ask questions. This seems fairer to me. I also think must people would rather answer than ask the questions, but the idea of having people ask one question for every two they answer right is fair.

I like to try to stump you all better than I like to answer...even though answering is fun too. You could always have the person answering the last question ask the next one and so on and so on. The issue there is that you only have one question up at a time. Doesn't really matter to me. I'm just having a good time on this fun site. This is a great place for baseball buffs.

i like the idea personally ive given up on answering questions most of the time, and gone to simply writing them because there seems to be a lack of people writing them. then again that has started to pick up as of late so kudos to all the question writers!

Ok, we have implemented this. One question has to be asked for every two correct answers given, and the first three answers are "free." (Take a look at the "Trivia Rules" for details.) Very curious if it will have the desired effect...
