I want to keep Burnett on the DL as long as possible. I am not going to start him his first start back against the White Sox. I would like to take him off the DL the day before his next start. Anyone know how long after they are taken off the DL that yahoo makes you release a player to make room????
In a related question (wrong forum, sorry, feel free to disregard this part), Who might I consider releasing if the above scenario is not possible.
C - I. Rodriguez
1B - T. Helton
2B - M. Giles
SS - J. Hardy
3B - A. Rodriguez
OF - H. Matsui, G. Sizemore, J. Gomes
UT - P. Nevin, B. Giles
BN - N. Johnson, C. Barmes
SP - C. Carpenter, J. Peavy, M. Mulder, F. Garcia, A. Burnett (DL)
RP - T. Hoffman, T. Gordon, S. Shields, F. Liriano, D. Weathers, B. McCarthy
You can leave him in your DL spot as long as you like, even after he loses the little red 'DL' next to his name. However as long as he's there, you cannot maky any other roster moves (I believe this includes changing starters). Once you wish to remove Burnett from your DL, you must release a player immediately, if you are at roster size max.
Technically, you can have A.J. Burnett on the DL as long as you want. HOWEVER, when you want to make a transaction, like say you want to get a hot-pick up of the week, you have to drop someone, plus the guy your dropping to get the flavor of the week.
Example:
*let's assume here*
Papelbon is on FA. Fast forward until Burnett's start on the last day before it. You want to get Papelbon. However, first, you must drop a player. Then, you activate Burnett. Then, you drop the guy who you want for Papelbon.
