Updated Stat projections for Shelton?

Postby bellings » Wed Apr 12, 2006 11:27 pm

Shelton hit ANOTHER homer today, and he already was the #1 player according to the Yahoo formula. I know that it's early, but he already has 6 HR in 8 games. What are some reasonable stat projections for this kid? If we redrafted today, where do you think he'd end up?

I'm predicting 119 hrs easily in the first 60 games or so.

And that is relevant.....why? :-?

Want to project his stats? Here's how to do it:

#1. Take the projected stats you had preseason.

#2. Subtract 5% from all counting catagories: runs, rbi, hr.

#3. Multiply your preseason projections by 95%

#4. Add those numbers to his current numbers.

There you go. That's what to expect. ;-D

The Yahoo formula (whatever it is) is definitely off at the beginning of the year, but I think that it's actually a pretty good indicator of what players have done so far. I'm just trying to make the point that this isn't your typical hot start.

Why isn't it typical? Each year someone has a hot start and winds up ranked #1 overall at Yahoo, so this year is no different. Last year it was Brian Roberts. No different than this.

He has 3 doubles and 6 homers, not a very normal distibution. He'll cool off. I still wouldnt be shocked if he hit 30-35.

The only difference is that BRob is clearly the best player in the game today, and obviously is the #1 fantasy player in any format. ;-7
