Same nonsense we saw with Santana. Not to compare anyone to Santana, but to keep a starter with potential in the pen for Lohse? We all know Lohse blows.
They want to slow him into it, is there anything wrong with it?
Totally agree with that, except with Lohse still being decent. I would still acquire him if he was a FA in most leagues. Good pitching is still good pitching.

The twins dont want to take Liriano out of the pen anytime soon b/c hes the only lefty. So look for Lohse to be dealt to the first team that is willing to take on most of his salary and liriano to be moved to the rotation around june or july at the latest.
This makes a lot of sense. Do they have anyone in AAA that they could bring up to fill his spot in the bullpen?
They have some Denny Batista guy that they want to step up (although i think hes kind of old). He was suppose to make the big club as the lefty specialist until he had a subpar ST. I think ideally they want him to pitch well in AAA and then call him up as soon as Liriano gets moved to the rotation. I subpose if he pitches really well in AAA they could call him up, move Lohse to the pen and Liriano to rotation, although that would make it more dificult to trade Lohse, so i would bet against it.

It doesn't matter that Lirano is the only lefty in the pen because the Twins aren't even using him in the LOOGY role.

Well according to the manager it matters.
"I really hope I can find a way to get another lefthander in here, because I'd really like to get him into the rotation," Gardenhire said.
Gardenhire said he'd like Dennys Reyes, who is working on holding runners at Class AAA Rochester, to take over the lefthanded specialist role, freeing Liriano to enter the rotation.
Gardenhire makes a lot of excuses. Like sending Bartlett to Triple-A to work on... [drumroll]... "leadership" while Juan Castro fakes being a starting shortstop. How is anyone going to learn to take charge of a veteran Major League infield playing in Rochester, New York?
With regards to previous posts, Liriano is the second best starter on the Twins staff right now. The Twins have a sick veteran fetish, otherwise they wouldn't have paid Lohse over $4 million to do less than Liriano will for $400,000 when their offense is still way behind divisional foes Chicago and Cleveland.
Liriano will crack the rotation this season, but it could take a long time. He'll still pile up a healthy number of strikeouts in relief until then.
They want to slow him into it, is there anything wrong with it?
Radke Better as a player, experience, game wise and a million other intangibles that mean squat in fantasy and everything to reality baseball I wont try to argue.
Silva Definitely will hold the 3 spot in the rotation over Liriano when he makes it but do you really think he is a better pitcher to any serious degree?
It has been proven throughout time that rushing pitchers to the Big Show can back fire and ruin a young pitchers confidense several times over guys.
The Twins are going to take their time with him, allow him to gain innings and experience pitching in relief, and probably wait until a little after the all-star break to give him a rotation spot.
If he is on your wire grab him yesterday in your league. If you own him then patience. Dont even think about dropping him.
