Nice job George. It was fun. ;-D

And for the record, I'm not really decided on whether or not I like the DH, but I had to defend it since you picked it. I can definitely see your point of how it would create a more small ball and defense oriented game but at the same time, I also hate having to watch a lot of those pitchers flail around at the plate.

Uh oh. Does this mean we have to do a tiebreaker or something? >_<

LG-
Yeah, this was a good topic for me to talk about. I definitely agree that there are some decent reasons for keeping the DH around. Edgar Martinez and David Ortiz (it would be a shame for a team to have to deal with Papi in the field) are two good ones, and I like the fact that we still get to see guys like Frank Thomas and Jim Thome on a daily basis instead of just coming off the bench (if at all). But in the end, I think it's a better game when pitchers hit.

As for the issue with the line, I'd never really heard of that, but it makes a lot of sense (what I said a few posts back not withstanding. ;-)). You're probably correct that umps aren't going to be trained to call those really inside strikes, and when guys stand that close to the plate, it eliminates any margine for error the pitcher has. I think ditching the body armour would be a good plan, but I certaily wouldn't mind them putting that line back in there.

I'm not sure but I think there is some sort of rule on armor now. I was watching a game and the commentators were talking about how Bonds was grandfathered in along with a few other guys who had been wearing the huge armor for awhile. I think it's pretty much limited to small pads now, like the kind that A-Rod wears. I don't really now what the solution is to the problem, but I think anything would be a step in the right direction. ;-D

See, this is the problem with "debates" where one person wins and the other loses; they get in the way of real, useful discussion. :-)
