Steaming Games over the Internet

I was just talking ot a buddy who got it last year with 8 other guys and had no problems but this year they wised up and apparently you can only log on so many times in a given period or your account gets frozen. Thats garbage. I wish there was another way. Oh well

Does anyone know about how they register what area code you're in? Is it by the ip address of the computer you sign up on or the one you're watching in? Can you use your account in more than one location?

its the IP of the currently being used computer. this is obvious when you try plugging in all sorts of proxy IPs as some work and some dont..and im guessing you can use your account anywhere because it detects the IP when you click on the little tv icon.

Me and my friends have got a pretty sweet setup. I live at the Theta Chi Fraternity house at RPI in upstate NY, and we rarely get to see the Red Sox games on TV. Unfortunately it cost $180 to buy MLB Extra Innings from the cable company. So I signed up for the MLB.com deal and I hook my laptop up to our 65" big screen TV so we can watch any and every game, and still save $100.

hey anyone with more knowledge on the IP issue. Does that mean only one ip address can use mlb.tv at a time or you can have multiple users

you can have multiple users....at least 3....I have streamed a game at work, left it on, went home, and fired up two different PC's with games on, including one with two different browser session's open.

HOWEVER, last year, sometimes when I'd forget and leave a game streaming at work, it wouldn't let me fire up the second session at home, saying too may open sessions......


I've done 2 desktops and one laptop at home no problem and have yet to bump into an issue at home--of course those are all going through same router, so depending on how they judge the no-no....

I wonder if that has to do to a static ip?? I know i asked a friend who got it last year and he said if you space your log ins by 20 minutes or so it shoudl be fine. Hope so.

I was quite unhappy when MLB decided to control internet streaming for all clubs and turn what was free decentralized content controlled by each station/club to a centralized money making model (though it's a smart business decision, free streamed radio's the norm on the internet).
