I'm confident that Benitez will close again when he comes off the DL. I haven't heard anything to suggest the Giants are considering Worrell as a replacement, just a fill-in.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
On Baseball Tonight, Peter Gammons said the Giants are very worried about him and this could turn out to be a bad situation. Don't know exactly what he meant, but I'd pick up Worrell.
Benitez, Armando RP SF
News: RHP Armando Benitez could be headed to a rehab assignment in the minors. He threw a bullpen session Sunday and hopes his stint on the disabled list for left knee bursitis isn't prolonged. The injury affected his mechanics in spring training and prevented him for throwing regularly off the mound. The plan is for Benitez to throw again Tuesday and follow up next week with live batting practice. He's eligible to come of the DL April 17. Analysis: Alou expects Benitez to be back by April 17. Plan accordingly.
