Teixeira's no power a cause for concern?

Postby kemper5 » Mon Apr 10, 2006 11:46 pm

Big Teix has had 30 AB's now and has absolutely zero power. He has not yet hit a homer and has 3 RBI's.. When do we start getting concerned about this?.. If he go's 60-70 AB's with no homer, should we be concerned? Not sure it will happen, but it's a little bit concerning,

Absolutely not a concern. He has had some extremely well hit balls, and though they have not yet found the other side of the wall...they soon will. It's only been a week, give him some time. At least he doesn't look lost at the plate and is actually hitting for a very good average.

I hear ya. I just hope it comes soon. He is hitting for a decent average, but need to catch up in power.

It should also be noted that he doesnt have a single strikeout.

I noticed that tonight, which is actually pretty impressive considering he had 124 Ks last year.

Its just a week into the season, when hitters like him slump early in the year (not saying he is in a slump by any means, but maybe a power slump is in the midst of happening), they normally light it up over the summer, take Teixeira in 2004 for example. The power will come, just be patient and dont sell him for less than he is worth.

Certainly not a cause for concern after 1 week.

not whatsoever. If you can find anyone willing to trade Teix then get him.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike
