Although I am not a baseball god, I would say that your team should do pretty well for the rest of the year.

However, as a Boston fan, I have seen Shea start out good and then slump at the end of the season. Everett also hasn't done well as the season came to a close.

As far as pitchers go, Maddux is the only one I am worried about. When he's good, he's damn good, but he hasn't been consistent. As far as willis goes, he may be young, but as long as he keeps winning, nobody has any case against him.

I hope this is helpful to you.

I have been no lower then third place this year and want to dominate the second half. There are a few player who are not very active and are willing to trade. Would you think any of these deals would be good for my team?

1.
Give up: Loaiza, Esteban (SP-CWS)
Get: Gagne, Eric (RP-LA)

2.
Give up: Everett, Carl (RF, CF, LF, DH-CWS) and
Willis, Dontrelle (SP-Fla)

Get: Anderson, Garret (LF-Ana) and
Pettitte, Andy (SP-NYY)

3.
Give up: Bradley, Milton (CF-Cle)
Get: Ordonez, Magglio (RF-CWS)

4.
Give up: Lee, Derrek (1B-Fla)
Get: Thome, Jim (1B, DH-Phi)

5.
Give up: Everett, Carl (RF, CF, LF, DH-CWS) and
Wilson, Vance (C-NYM) and
Willis, Dontrelle (SP-Fla)

Get:Lo Duca, Paul (C, 1B-LA) and
Pierre, Juan (CF-Fla) and
Oswalt, Roy (SP-Hou)

Any comments/ideas?

no one will replace Armando benitez effectively. the stupid staff is getting rid of all their good players as they start to improve and trade them for lousy second class minor leaguers. and as for a closer they will most definitely use Cerda. if they dont (more stupidness) they will use stanton, Lloyd, or one of them new minor leaguers quote on quote ''PROSPECTS''. :-P

I only played in a points league in hockey so I might be missing something but I would:

1. See if you can drop/package Wilson. While he is a good C, I don't see the need to keep 2 catchers when you could open up a roster spot for another OF or P. I would keep Varitek.
2. If you have A-Rod as your SS, do you really need to keep Vizquel on the DL? He is O.K. but won't do much this year. There might be someone else like Milton available to stash on your DL. I don't know who is available in your league but I would take a look.

Now, on to your possible trades:

1.
Give up: Loaiza, Esteban (SP-CWS)
Get: Gagne, Eric (RP-LA)

DO THIS ONE NOW!! Your RP's are weak and chances are, Loaiza's stock will not be higher than it is now.

2.
Give up: Everett, Carl (RF, CF, LF, DH-CWS) and
Willis, Dontrelle (SP-Fla)

Get: Anderson, Garret (LF-Ana) and
Pettitte, Andy (SP-NYY)

This one is tough to call. You are making a huge upgrade at OF but would be losing in the pitching end. It all depends on how you are doing in certain categories. If you need pop and are good in ERA and WHIP (to cover for Pettitte's inconsistencies), then you might ant to make this deal. He should get wins because of the team he's on.

3.
Give up: Bradley, Milton (CF-Cle)
Get: Ordonez, Magglio (RF-CWS)

HELL YEAH!! DO IT NOW!!

4.
Give up: Lee, Derrek (1B-Fla)
Get: Thome, Jim (1B, DH-Phi)

DO THIS ONE NOW AS WELL!!

5.
Give up: Everett, Carl (RF, CF, LF, DH-CWS) and
Wilson, Vance (C-NYM) and
Willis, Dontrelle (SP-Fla)

Get:Lo Duca, Paul (C, 1B-LA) and
Pierre, Juan (CF-Fla) and
Oswalt, Roy (SP-Hou)

If Oswalt stays healthy, this COULD be a good one for you.

On the trades, I am commenting based on the isolated deal and not how you are doing in certain areas. If these would negatively affect certain things, then please disregard them. Other than the last deal, you are giving up a little speed for a lot of pop.

As much as I would like to free up some room for more OFs, 5 is the limit. I just have Vizquel on my DL, because I haven't had a chance to dump him and get a better player that is on the DL.
As far at the trades go, the sucker fell for it, and I got Gagne for Loazia. None of the other ones went though, but I was able to trade Willis for Tim Hutson. I am not cofidant that Willis will continue to dominate the second half of the season...

I dropped vizquel, but Nevin wasn't available. I picked up hairston, in hopes he will come back and steal some more bases. I also dumped Benitez and picked up Ryan Franklin from Seatle. Any thoughts on him?
