Prior has been throwing in the outfield and has worked on his mechanics on the mound without throwing a ball. He is on an "accelerated schedule" according to pitching coach Larry Rothschild.

Anyone have any news on a time line for his return? Last I heard they were thinking early May.

Yea, early May. This is from the MLB Skinny on Yahoo.

It's looking like Kerry Wood and Mark Prior could be back in a few weeks. Wood has started to throw some in his rehab, and Mark Prior is going to follow suit soon. Wood's target is probably around May 1, with Prior about a week behind Wood's schedule. …

anyone know with Priors injury if it was something he tweaked and now he's fine and just building up arm strength, or is it something that's still bothering him and he's gonna tweak it in his first start and be out again

The most hilarious part of that update is the comment that they have him on an "accelerated schedule." Doesn't seem like things are happening all that fast to me. Once he comes back I'm sure he'll tweak something again. I'm done with Prior forever.

I haven't seen anything indicating an ongoing issue. Now we're talking about the Cubs here so take the lack of negative information for what it's worth but all reports I have seen have Prior simply building up strength in order to pitch again.
