Apr 9 Giles left Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Giants with a sore right quadriceps muscle. The Braves' second baseman and leadoff hitter is not expected to play in Monday's home opener against the Phillies.

from mlb.com

Giles initially tweaked his upper right quad earlier in the week at Los Angeles, then aggravated it running out of the batter's box on a groundout to third in the fifth inning. He remained in the game long enough to lead off the top of the seventh with a walk, and eventually scored, but pulled himself out of the game before the bottom half.

On the groundout when he aggravated the injury, Giles said, "I started running and I figured it was going to blow out, which is why I stopped running before I got to first.

"I'm glad I stopped because I've got a great chance of playing [Monday], but if I run through the bag, who knows how long it would be?"

I don't like how he said, " I felt like it was going to blow...", I don't need him sidelined for a long period of time. When do you guys forsee him coming back?

he started. but i saw him running from first to home in the seventh inning and you could tell he was hurt almost all the way. espn commentator said he didnt want to miss home opener and since Jones was hurt he was playing.

i thought he would take the day off since they have no game on Tue and left him off my roster this week. oh well, my first league so i will learn.
