Is this because of the finger nail, Texas bats, the usual Kelvim unpredicability, or typical SP unpredictability (it's still early in the season)?

I think it's a combination of all the above. I didn't see the game but anytime there is a bunch of unearned runs there were innings that were kept alive that shouldn't have been. Whether Escobar could have done anything to prevent the unearned runs, I don't know.

One bad game is to be expected by even the best of pitchers.
