Duh. I think that is obvious. But taking a couple educated risks is what brings home the championships.
I took the risk on him. I don't view it a risk. He is healthy again he has great stuff. I also got him for a small $5 price tag. Well worth the buy for a guy who could put up No. 1 or (more likely) No. 2 fantasy SP numbers. Heck, Matt Cain went for more than him at our draft ($6.....to me...another educated risk). So he was at a great value. At $12 or more....no longer a value worth the risk.
Don't get me wrong, I would have drafted the guy if I didn't think he was being overvalued (taken in the 10th round in my league), as I think he has great potential to be a superb fantasy starter. He was on my team last year, and his numbers (while he was there) really did help me. However, I have a hard time believing he won't get hurt again, he was supposed to be healthy when he came back last April, it turned out he wasn't. I decided not to waste a 10th rounder for Escobar, and waited a few rounds for Lee and Contreras.
I hear ya. I got a bargain, he was drafted too early in your league. I still think this is his year (even if his fingernail hurts). Word!
