no i saw this link. i don't think it's true. i think it's yahoo being stupid and trying to get everyone to be excited. they said that IF Gomes goes on the DL, it MIGHT open up a spot for Young. TB has never said anythign about calling up Young if this happens. I'm not sure if it's gonna happen. i really just think it's Yahoo trying to get everyone to be excited. Heck, Gomes might not even go on the DL. he keeps playing.

Only if Gomes goes through season ending shoulder surgery. He will do it if he doesn't miss any time next year, but if it puts him out for some time next year, he won't go through with the surgery. (Getting this from Yahoo!)...

Only if Gomes goes through season ending shoulder surgery. He will do it if he doesn't miss any time next year, but if it puts him out for some time next year, he won't go through with the surgery. (Getting this from Yahoo!)...
This is what i don't get. Gomes NEEDS surgery, that is a given. The guy says he will only get it if he is back by next year. The longer he waits the less chance of getting back. If palmer and culpepper can get back from those knee injuries to play football he can get back to hit a baseball.

Gomes sat out his second game in a row and the radio is reporting he will have that surgery and go to the DL, with Seo also heading to the DL that makes two open spots on the Rays roster. Also September is coming very soon and the rays said they envision calling up 6 guys, so Young better be on his way
Jonny Gomes is expected to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery after another doctor confirmed an earlier opinion.
He'll likely go on the disabled list Tuesday to open up a roster spot for Delmon Young. Gomes will be a better investment next spring because of the shoulder troubles that led to some incredibly ugly second-half numbers. If he's healthy, he should be back as the team's starting designated hitter.

With Jonny Gomes done for the year, Young could play regularly the rest of the way, assuming that his performance justifies the at-bats. He loves to steal bases, so even those in shallow mixed leagues will probably want to take a chance on him.
