Mike González didnt close tonight?

Postby yossarian » Fri Apr 07, 2006 2:16 am

Anybody know why Gonzalez didn't close tonight? I didn't see the game, but it seems he came in in the 8th inning for some reason. Somebody in my 12 man league dropped him for Weathers and I'm thinking of using my #3 waiver position to drop Miceli and pick him up.

Anyway, I'm not asking about whether or not I should pick him up, but just what the situation was in the Pit. game tonight.

It was a tie game, bottom of the 8th, important situation. He hadn't pitched yet this year. Maybe they planned on using him for two innings today?

Ah...that makes sense. Thanks for the info. I found out that I've lost Gagne tonight, so I'm going to use my waiver on M.Gonz.

Lost Gagne too. Luckily I've been hoarding closers like Gonzalez off the waiver wire. Still sucks though because I was planning on trading M. Rivera for outfield help.

Yeah. I shoulda seen it coming, but it still sucks. I had him on both my teams. I didn't target him pre-draft or even really want him, given his injury concerns. He just sorta fell to me and was there when I wanted to take closers and had so much potential. Ugh.

I am a Pirate fan and was watching the game last night....Gonzo is the Pirates closer, they brought him in the eighth to make sure he got an inning or two in. He gave up a few hits but didn't look terrible in doing it. His fastball was up but his breaking stuff was sharp and over the plate.
