Apr 6 Updating a previous item, The Los Angeles Times reports Los Angeles Dodgers SS Rafael Furcal (ankle) will be checked out April 6, a day after suffering a left ankle injury in a collision at second base with Atlanta Braves OF Andruw Jones. Furcal stayed in the game. It is not known how severe Furcal's injury is.

When Furcal was turning a double play in the 8th inning, somebody slid into his ankle. He had to be helped off the field. Due to substitutions (injuries to Kent, etc..) and pinch hitters, the only hitter left on the Dodgers bench was Dioner Navarro. So Furcal had to come out for the 9th and was shifting all his weight onto his good ankle between pitches.

The Dodgers have to be thankful to have Thursday off after losing both Olmedo Saenz and Jeff Kent and the near-miss with Furcal tonight. Furcal was hobbling around in the dugout, but we assume that he'll be fine for Friday. Apr. 6 - 1:32 am et

The Orange County Register notes that the four players injured in Wednesday's game - Jeff Kent (bruised left triceps), Olmedo Saenz (stiff back), James Loney (bruised left wrist) and Rafael Furcal (kicked in the right shin) - are expected to be available for Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, according to head trainer Stan Johnston.
