Should I be concerned? I hope to start him next week, especially because he starts 2 games next week.

News: RHP John Patterson both struggled and dominated in his season debut Wednesday night. Patterson allowed four runs in just four innings against the Mets but struck out seven, including six through the game's first two innings. Afterward, Patterson revealed he has been battling tightness in his right forearm, and that's preventing him from throwing his slider.

Analysis: Patterson said he doesn't think he'll need to miss a turn, but Frank Robinson said that might be something to consider. If he's OK, he should set up for two starts next week, starting Monday at Houston. When healthy, he's a mixed league starter.

I was suprised when I saw this on my team news page. He looked pretty good yesterday except for two mistake pitches that ended up in 3 runs. If he only misses a game, then it's no big deal. Hopefully he misses none.

I'm confident he won't miss a start too. Expect a nice rebound start plus 7 k's in 4 innings is rediculous.

Update: Patterson (tight forearm) doesn't expect to miss his next start, the Washington Post reports.

Recommendation: "It's not worse," Patterson said. "If it stays like this, I can pitch through it." The question we have to ask given his injury history, though, is if he *should* be pitching through it. Cross your fingers and knock on wood, Patterson owners.

I have to agree with Rotowire on this one. "Its not worse" just doesn't make me feel any better...

"Its not worse" also means, I assume, that its not better either. Taking this further, I would have to assume that he still can not throw his slider... the difference this time being that batters will know this is so, and won't have to watch out for the slider. Does this make him too predictable? That being said, he is going up against Houston, who doesn't have the best offense. I have to wonder if I should put him in the lineup today. Any opinions?
