he was hit by pitch before leaving the game .. so i wonder if Alou being cautious with him so taking him out....

Yeah, I think it was precautionary. They really want Bonds healthy and rested for tomorrow's home opener, which is why he was going to have the day totally off today, until Tuesday's game was postponed...

Two reasons.

One, the Giants have their home opener tomorrow (daygame) and Bonds is going to play. Normally he won't play daygames after night games but since this is the home opener he is playing for sure.

Two, Felipe Alou is trying to get Steve Finley as much playing time as possible. He will substitute for Bonds frequently in late innings as a defensive replacement.
