High-scoring games in Dodger Stadium?

Wait a sec, guys, were these changes made before THIS season or before 2005? Everything I find on the Internet says that changes were made prior to the 2005 season to reduce foul ground and add seats in...maybe the TBS commentators were the ones wrong?

I sent an email to a fantasy expert...he said...

"The Dodger Stadium changes were in place last year and the ballpark played
as the NL's fourth-best pitcher's park.

Park Factors:
SD - 77
Florida - 84
Wash - 87
L.A. - 89

Everything else was 98 or better, so basically, there was one extreme
pitcher's park in the NL last year and three other very good ones."

Maybe we screwed up then?

I looked all over for changes this year, and i couldn't find any.

3 run indexes are better imo. LA had a 89 run index last year. Their 3 year run index from (03-05) was 87, so it didn't hurt much using last years 1 year index. Shortening foul ground will increase BA, and will lead to a few more baserunners for pitchers, and a few more runs. It won't have the effect of moving the fences in the same distance. One thing about LA, is the ball dies during night games.

amazinz and I were talking about this over IM the other day.
I even joked that I might have to pick up JD Drew

I haven't seen anything official yet, but after having watched a game there, I was shocked. Pretty much all that foul ground is gone.

Serioslly Gone.

Up the right and left hand side the seats go right up to the field give or take 5 feet. Chavez Ravine always played towards a power bat, it was just that foul ground went on forever and created so many outs. I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure they also moved the dugouts closer to the field by a good 10 feet ..

anybody have a picture?

I would love to see a before and after

I'll see what I can find.

Wait, WR, are those the changes made for 2006 or for 2005? It seems as if Dodger Stadium underwent changes last year, too?

Probably 5 'outs', but when you figure it's a strike and that hitters will only hit about .270 as it is, it's probably only an extra hit per game

I think the run outburst is more due to having Derek Lowe and Odalis Perez in the top three of your rotation, and random chance, than anything else. :-b

My favorite stadium... :~(

Man, I saw the stadium on Opening Day on TV and was disgusted. Didn't notice the foul ground thing until the Braves' commentators were talking about it tonight, but the colors are disgusting. I liked their old blue wall with pictures of their greats on it. :-t

Hopefully this little hitting surge is transient. I'm getting stupidly nostalgic here, but I really enjoyed staying up till 1 watching the 2-1 nailbiters.
