What's going on with this guy? He's one of the best relievers last year and had a shot at the closer position this year with Jenks struggling. I picked him up off the WW thinking that I was getting a good reliever. Anybody noticed anything different? I know it's just two appearances but he is getting clobbered.

He's not getting "clobbered" exactly.. he's got an ERA of 4.5, which is currently much better than other pitchers like Politte, Pettitte, Zito, Zambrano, and even Santana. It's really early in the season. Give him some time.

I know, he's slightly brought down my ERA in my roto league since I always leave him in because of this. He keeps giving up that one run every 2 innings.

cotts--

realistic option as potential closer, or too valuable as lefty specialist?

I agree- way too early to push the panic button on him. Took awhile for him to get establshed last year. In fact, he was barely on the radar until June or so.

He will be fine.

He's not better than D. Marte was with the White Sox. I really doubt he'll close. Either Jenks keeps it or Politte, McCarthy, or a trade, but not Cotts.

In Ozzie Guillen's bullpen, virtually anything can happen. Boone Logan could close, so I would not discount Cotts just yet. He still has close to the best pure stuff in the pen and he is still getting better. Don't beleive me check out his BAA and minor league K/9 numbers.
