It's April 6th. Chris Shelton and Jay Gibbons are the 2nd most valuable 1Bs behind Pujols, Shannon Stewart is batting over .500, and Villareal leads the league in Wins...
dont rain on my parade :p, I'd say his hot start at safeco makes a good case already that he's the real deal, not "k. matsui", and will have a better year than a lot of people wanted to give him credit for

I'll give you that, but I also think he'll fall far short of many others' expectations... I feel like I've heard a lot of guys overshooting on what I think this guy is actually capable of, while the doubters are mainly saying he can't live up to those numbers; not calling for a flop (cough Kaz Matsui cough).
Kaz Matsui is a peculiar case, he was an ironman in Japan but became injury prone in the majors, very strange. His performance while healthy didn't translate at all from Japan either, except for a month here or there. But he seems to be more of an expception than the rule when you look at players who have transferred NPB to MLB.
But anyways, I recall Kaz having a hot start to his career with a homerun off the very first pitch he ever saw in the majors, and so on. So, I wouldn't get too high on Johjima just yet. Once the scouting kicks in, it would be interesting to see how Joh adapts to pitchers adapting to him.

what ranking does he have now, even AFTER his latest binge?
I hate Johjima. In one team, I'm trying to decide between Willingham and Martin, and now I see Johjima doing all this damage in the FA list. He's just making this choice all the tougher.
