They think sticking the knuckleballer between two flame throwers will throw opposing hitters off their games.

I too own Varitek, and wasn't happy to see an off day already. However, Bard was unimpressive (I watched the game), so if he continues to struggle, Varitek *might* try catching Wakefield. I hope anyway.
