I'm out of the loop on some of the newer talent out there. Is Mr. Murton for real, or did he just have a really lucky day? What kind of talent does this guy really have?
Matt Murton is the guy I drafted at the end of my 11 team cbs draft and subsequently dropped for someone else. What this all means? I'm an idiot and he'll prolly win NL ROY to spite me.
the cubbies stole murton in the nomar deal. he has always shown the ability to hit for average, i am just not sure about his power. he showed more power in the majors last year than i thought he would. dusty's preference for vets kind of scared me off but it looks like he will get plenty of at bats this year.
haha I met Murton at a camp I worked at (he was cheap to bring to the camp, since he was a "no name"), then he recognized me when I went to the Cubs-Mets game that night (he turned around quickly when I yelled out the camp I worked at, sqinted to see who it was, and waved)!
I like Murton a lot. I drafted him in the last round of my draft, hoping for help in average. There hasn't been a stop since A ball where he didn't hit at least 300. He has decent speed, but i don't know how much he'll run.
Finally, don't get too attached to his power, as he's never really a ton of HRs.
I would say 10-15hr with a 300avg is a decent projection. He has the speed to swipe 20 bags, but I have no idea how often he'll be running...

He's a great potential OF, I drafted him toward the end of my draft. He batted around .500 in the spring and last year was batting above .320, his HR totals were great, and if the cubs had put anyone on base, his RBI totals would have been up there too.
I think he's a better option than Granderson. He's young, Id put him on about the same level as Hermedia (though thats probably his top level of production for the year)
In other words, great 4OF, potential num 3 in 12 team leagues.
Murton has always had potential and just needed a change of scenery from the Boston system. I like him for low-20s HR and good RBI numbers, especially if they put him at #6 where he belongs (barrett is not a #6, except in the magical land of Dumbsty). 300+ BA, OPS approaching 900. has doubles machine written all over him.
