How can I / Do I need to Upgrade my team

Postby bmmac27 » Tue Apr 04, 2006 11:02 am

I'm in a 9 team Roto league and am wondering if I need to upgrade my team in any areas, I feel it's pretty solid but would like to get some outside input. Thanks for your help.

C - J. Willingham
1B - D. Ortiz
2B - C. Figgins
3B - A-Rod
SS - C. Barmes
OF - C. Crisp
OF - A. Dunn
OF - M. Holliday
Util - S. Podsednik
BN - W. Taveras
BN - M. Ellis
BN - J. Hermida

SP - C. Carpenter
SP - J. Beckett
SP - D. Cabrera
SP - E. Santana
SP - N. Lowry
SP - A. Cook
RP - E. Gagne
RP - J. Isringhausen
RP - A. Heilman

DL - B. Sheets

I'm debating trying to deal Podsednik for another closer, gambling that Figgins and Taveras will give enough SBs to stay in the middle of the pack, or should I try to deal Taveras? That's one move I could see, any other suggestions would help a lot.

Podsednik might get better return in a trade and Figgie will keep you in the hunt with speed....add another closer or some pop at the utility slot....

I pretty much love your offense. Willingham off to a good start aleady, great power in Dunn, Arod, and Ortiz, and tons of speed in Figgins and Podsednik, not to mention 15 from Holliday/20 from Arod, and Tavaras on the bench. Jermida is also a great risk sitting on the bench. If I were you, I'd trade either Pods or Tavaras....50 from Figgins, 20 from Arod, and 15 from Holliday (plus some from Crisp, Barmes) alone will get you over 100 steals. You can platoon the one you don't trade with Hermida and get some pitching. Carpenter looks solid, Cabrera and Santana have breakout rumors floating, and Lowry has great upside, but Beckett could go down whenever. If Sheets pitches 150 innings or so, you should be fine in SP. Relievers, if Gagne is healthy you have 2 good closers with Izzy. I'd grab another one like you said...overall great team I think.
