Lugo going down has been a small disaster for my keeper team. I have Nomar and Lugo as SS, both go down on the same day. My one and only backup at SS is Mark Ellis. Once Tracy could move to 3B I had Mueller fill in for MI and Ellis at SS. But now Kent might be out for awhile. I am completely out of MI now and its a league where you have to pay to drop players.
If worse comes to worse I'll be calling up some prospects: Barfield, Hardy, or Hanley Ramirez.
MLB.com reports Julio Lugo continues to be sidelined with an abdominal strain and did not travel with the team. "We'll take that slowly," said Tampa manager Joe Maddon. "It's such a weird injury, you just don't know. And the guy's all muscle and bone, there's nothing else there."
Lugo should be ready a week or 10 days after he was scheduled to come off the disabled list on April 19. Tomas Perez and Nick Green will continue to fill in at the shortstop position until Lugo can return to action.

Last I heard (which was a while ago) was the he's slated to play today. Not sure if that's still accurate.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Manager Joe Maddon said Thursday that Julio Lugo's recovery from an abdominal strain is going slowly. "He is kind of status quo," Maddon said. "Those things ... every guy I know who's had one never gets well quickly. They think they're all right and then they sneeze or laugh or cough hard, they feel it. It's just one of those things you have to be patient with."
I'm guessing he is not coming off the DL today.
I think the DRays know that they don't need to rush this guy, and want him 100% healthy when he is back.

While I need him back for fantasy, I can understand wanting him at 100%, Upton is not close to ready defensivley as a SS and they may need him the whole year (though if he comes back and plays better they could get somone nice for him)

Unfortunately Sportsline is saying mid-May
Julio Lugo might not return to the Devil Rays' lineup until mid-May. What was originally described generally as an abdominal strain actually involved the left side intercostal muscle, which is between the ribs and typically slow to heal. (Updated 04/25/2006).
