I snatched up Cordero as soon as the news broke in a 12 team league.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
Where do you think he'll rank amongst the rest of the AL closers? No one has grabbed him yet in my league, but I've already got 3-4 closers in my h2h points based league. I've got an open spot so it may be worth just adding him.
Me too. Can never have to many relievers since I'm only in 6th place at saves and stand to gain. They don't hurt ERA that much and they fill in for the days when I don't have more than 2 starters.
With the Ranger's pitching staff, Cordero will get plenty of chances.

Well, Cordero is no great pitcher. He's probably a better pitcher than plain bad closers like Politte, Carter and the mercifully demoted Brandon Lyon. However, one of the things to note is that Texas, despite having a terrible overall record seems to be generating plenty of save opportunities, with Urbina having had 30 save opps already this year. If the save opps keep coming at anything close to this pace, Cordero could be very valuable second half.
pick up cordero immediately in all leagues he is available in.
he went through a rough couple of weeks about 2 weeks ago but since then has been pitching lights-out and there's no reason to think he won't continue. he was deemed the rangers' "closer of the future" (the future being now), and don't forget he got plenty of closing experience last year so there are less worries about his ability to adapt. he will be a valuable closer who will help your WHIP and ERA, not to mention lock up those invaluable saves.
"Urbina loses nearly all of his value with this move, as being the setup man for Looper doesn't much help fantasy owners. Back in Texas, Francisco Cordero will take over the closer's role until Jeff Zimmerman returns - a date which is unknown."
