I'm currently watching MLB.TV in Windows Media Player.
I'm having a problem with the player shutting down in the middle of a game. I ran a diagnostics test on my computer, and I'm hooked up to the net through a cable modem bringing in nearly 600 kbps, so I don't think the problem is with my connection.
I've heard that Real Player is the better option when watching MLB.TV.
Problem is, I can't figure out, for the life of me, how to watch a game in Real Player instead of Windows Media Player.
I've right clicked on the link to the game and selected "Copy Link Location." Then I've tried to paste that in the Real Player address field. It still opens up Windows Media Player.
I've searched on Google to try to find the answer, and again on these forums, and I can't find anyone explaining how to do it. I'm usually good with stuff like this, but I'm at my wits end.
There should be an option to play either real player or windows. You just click beside real player. I think you have to do it at the start when you first turn it on. Make sure you have an updated version of real player.
I have MLB.TV and it usually works fine for me using WMP. I'm pretty sure they the changed the video player to a flash format so it wouldn't need either player. Regardless, it sounds like you are having a problem with WMP, I would suggest uninstalling it and updating it if necessary. Finally if that doesn't work, MLB.TV does have a customer support line, but they put you on hold forever...

you might have to log out/delete cookies, and then try to log in again but there should be an option to pick wmp or real. you might not be seeing it if you selected wmp as your default player. last year i had better results with real. havent checked it out yet this year.
I'm pretty sure all you have to do is close your browser windows, delete your cookies and temp files, then reopen to MLB.tv. This should give you the option to choose between RealPlayer and WMP.
Anytime that I log in on a different computer, I get the option (at least I did last year...I haven't tried it this year.)

i'd appreciate it if you could try it this year and post results, because its different from last year. no option, and no options/preferences tab once you get into the wmp like there was last year.
