I've been in a certain competitive league for several years, and I always tried to draft a balanced team leaning towards power hitters early and average pitchers late. I have always come up short. We had our draft late last night (seriously past my bedtime), and I tried to do the opposite of what I normally do. I tried my best to completely ignore HRs and RBIs, concentrate more on Rs, AVG, and SBs, and rotate hitter/pitcher selections.

My team is devoid of power (I took my first baseman in round 24), but I hope to be more than competitive in 8 of the 10 cats. Will I succeed?

You probably could upgrade at 1st base. Gibbons won't get it done. You have good SP's that you could trade and upgrade.

Also, I'd temper your expectations with Wickman (I hope I'm wrong, b/c I have him) and T. Jones.

Good job with starters but you do need some power. Podsednick is expendable being you still have Abreu and Wright who can get 40-50 combined. I'd package Pods with someone else for a slugger.

Looks fine. I'd adjust the draft strategy to go cheap on closers in a 10-team draft, though. Instead of Wagner, Konerko, Sexson, or Dunn could have still been around. Between Carp, Willis, Pettitte, Sheets (on DL), Escobar, and your closers, you're already at the 1250 inning limit. Blanton and Shields can make up the innings lost with Sheets out and when your pitchers are playing superior teams. I think the offense will hold up and, as stated, you have a bevy of extra innings to trade away for more power.
