Nice team. I like your RP, but why so many? You have 5 closers. I think I would have tried to get another bat, maybe you can package one with a bat for an upgrade. I like your SP a lot (Felix is a nice pickup). Good OF and servicable, if not outstanding IF, except Teixeira, who is a stud.
thanks for your help. nice balance of power and speed. beltran looks poised for a comeback year. dont know why you have so many closers. your pitching is solid (i like felix, but he might be limited to how much he pitches this year)
I have so many closers because only Street is reliable...and he's a 2nd year player, so he's kind of risky too. All of my other closers are either injury prone, wild, or both. Orvella may not get the job, and Valverde has Batista down in AZ. So, since I didn't draft a closer in the early rounds, I kind of went with the comittee assuming at least 2 of them will not pan out. I figure it's a lot easier to drop a bum reliver than find saves on the wire...
Anyways, that's what happened. I planned on drafting a better OF, but I couldn't pass up on the pitching in the rounds I took them compared to what was avail for OF's. Thanks for the input!
I was just going to post that. You did yourself a great favor in drafting so many closers. I see a lot, A LOT of teams relying on the likes of Orvella, and Valverde as their #1 of #2 option in saves. If your going to take a chance on these guys, you need to have a back up plan, as you did. Very well done.
I love your team first of all. You have a great offense and a staff that has trading potential. I would be looking to upgrade at both SS and OF by packaging Winn and Barmes with one of your closers. I like your pitching staff but Beckett has burned me so much that I wouldn't mind seeing a more stable pitcher in that slot over him. I can't just write off Felix as a stud this soon in his career, so to me he is the big risk you need to take in your staff.
If you can pull off a few solid trades you might have a boring year plugging and chugging to a championship.
Solid hitting all around assuming some kind of bounce back from Beltran. If Rolen is healthy, you're in great shape because Teixera and Hafner are power studs just entering their prime years. A lot depends on Beltran, otherwise, Wynn is you're only steal guy worth mentioning.
Might want to think about a guy like Taveras if he's available.
Piazza might do better than expected. SD is a pitcher's park in general, but it's fairly neutral if you're a right handed pull hitter.
Some of your SPs worry me.
Becket's blister problems, hitter's park, etc... on the plus side, he can learn a lot from schilling and he'll get run support.
Weaver's inconsistancy
Cabrera... potential, but inconsistant
overall, If I had to recommend one move, it'd be grab another good SP.
