Was this such a ridiculous offer?

Postby ihux » Thu Jul 10, 2003 3:24 pm

Two guys in my league are all up in arms about an offer I made to one of them. The guy I was trying to trade with is leading the league (points league) in HR's by a huge margin but is last in SB's and most pitching categories. I have the opposite situation and wanted to trade some pitching and speed for a big bat. I offered:

Dontrelle Willis/Johnny Damon for Sammy Sosa

They both got openly hostile (I have no idea why the other guy made it his problem, I think they're friends) and claimed I should stop trying to "rip people off." Do you think it was that unreasonable? I know Sosa is a big name, but I think the two guys I offerred aren't exactly scrubs.

I probably wouldn't accept that offer but it is not ridiculous. You are trying to sell high on Dontrelle. I am having a similar uproar in a trade also involving Dontrelle.

They are acting so immature. How hard it could have been to click reject and move on. I could understand if it was Glendon Rusch and Damon or something like that. My advice is to find someone else besides those two bozos to deal with and just ignore their ridiculous comments.

I've seen MUCH more ridiculous trade offers and I guess I don't understand why these 2 guys are so up in arms over it. I don't think Sammy is going to have a huge year this year, at least by Sammy standards. I think Corkgate is going to have him distracted all year, as well as lingering physical problems. Damon & Willis have had very good seasons so far.

Every league has at least one guy who can never resist the opportunity to be a smart ass and stir up controversy. Oh well, just ignore and rise above it. ;-D
