Knickerbockers base ball team. First team to play using the Cartwright Rules. 1845. This was organized baseball
True history took place when the first two National Association teams matched up in Fort Wayne, Indiana on 5/4/1871. Bad weather kept many fans away, but approximately five-hundred still appeared to witness baseball history. The Fort Wayne Kekiongas defeated the Cleveland Forest Citys 2-0. Considered the first professional game.
04/22/1876 National League plays its first game ever: Red Stockings 6 versus the Athletics 5.

Accepted as answer by L0rdB23 on Fri Feb 07, 2003 10:47 am EST.
