What's the deal with Kelvim Escobar?

I have gotten a lot of advice to pick this guy up. Why should I? Is he going to start or come out of the pen?

I heard he's starting the Angels home opener on 4/7...against the Yankees.

He is definitely the number 4 starter, after Jeff Weaver.

He played in the WBC, and I hear he did pretty good.

Here are his spring training stats:

8 ks, 5 bbs, in 11 innings. 3.27 ERA, with a 1.09 WHIP. 2-0. The ks could be a little better, but its only spring training. He should be a real good late round pick for you.

the buzz is about because he's posting good spring/wbc numbers, has had a track record of good performance, but a bad injury history.
so he's been going undrafted or falling to very late rounds.

I snaged him in a deep roster 12 team mixed league, for $12

He has great upside if he stays healthy. I got him as my SP 6 in the 22nd round; he could finish with numbers far beyond that slot. If he's on your wire, give him strong consideration.
