I'm kind of surprised honestly. I know the talent that he has and how much he affects the team while playing, but I'd have thought the A's would go with the proven vets (Chavvy and Thomas, maybe even Bradley although I think he'd fit better in the 2 hole) over Crosby. If he steps up then I'll be all smiles though.
Targetted him in many leagues for this reason. Middle of the order SS? Hells yes.
He actually played like shi in clutch situations last year. .270 with runnerson, .223 with RISP, and .135 with RISP with 2 outs. It's a small sample size, but he'll have to improve on that if he wants to stay in there.

I'm not so sure that's been decided. He hit down in the lineup the last couple games of ST, but he also hit leadoff for a while. I can pretty much guarantee he'll be 1-2-9, and I'd tend to lean towards 9.
As for Crosby, this just adds more value to a guy I was already huge on (owned in both my money leagues). His SO/BB ratio was much improved a ton in '05 -- much closer to his minor league numbers -- which makes me think he's turned the corner. Throw in the potential to hit 25-30 homers, and this guy has all the makings of a stud middle infielder. Imagine if the A's would actually let him run like he did in the minors.
Definitely potential great value pick this year. Even if you have SS covered in a league, drafting Crosby ~13-14th round is a great value. Possibly one of the top HR hitters at the SS position (If healthy of course! )
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

Ugh, I certainly hope not. I have him in the 7 hole in my sig, which I think would be a nice spot for him. Spots 1-6 should not contain him.
